Position Groups

Offense

Quarterback

Jalen Hurts – The offense worked on Red Zone drills Day 1 where Jalen found Dallas Goedert a number of times. Jalen hit AJ Brown for a 30+ yd completion down the left sideline (someone call Jason Bell!). Jalen has been very accurate so far through training camp and looks on top form.

Marcus Mariota has struggled early in camp and was picked off by Mario Goodrich on 7v7s. Mariota connected with Greg Ward on a deep ball with Josh Jobe in coverage. Mariota has thrown 4 interceptions so far during camp practice.

Offensive Line

The offensive line is fairy set in stone at this moment in time with Cam Jurgens filling the position at Right Guard. Eagles have signed veteran Dennis Kelly who will fill the role as the teams swing tackle.

Running Back

Competition at Running Back is at an all-time high. D’Andre Swift has notably been taking snaps in the slot position and should be the top receiving option in the RB room. Rashaad Penny has taken the most carries with the first team with Kenny Gainwell and Boston Scott rotating in. A dark horse to make the roster is Trey Sermon who has had a fair share of reps with the first team.

Wide Receiver

Deon Cain has taken a lot of reps with the second team offense

Joseph Ngata had a nice catch over Kelee Ringo in coverage in 7o7 down the left sideline.

Quez Watkins impressed on Day 3 of camp, including leaping over McPhearson on a jump ball and a catch in traffic vs Josiah Scott.

DeVonta Smith made NFL news with his footwork rep on the ladder. Smith has caught everything thrown his way throughout camp

Tight End

Defense

Defensive Line

Jalen Carter caught attention when he got to the quarterback in Day 1 for a “sack”. Carter also impressed on bull-rush with Landon Dickerson in 1v1’s, garnering praise from Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata. Carter during interviews stated his goal is on DROTY.

Jordan Davis has been taking reps with the first team in a 4-man front with Fletcher. JD’s has arrived at training camp in great condition

Nolan Smith has impressed in both pass rush quickness and overall work ethic racking up a couple of “sacks” early in camp. Brandon Graham has been quick to praise the young bulldog. Smith was dropped into coverage in Day 2 and impressed coaches with his athletic ability.

Derek Barnett‘s contract has been restructured. He was previously due a $7.5 million salary with $1.5M guaranteed and the potential to earn up to $1M in per-game bonuses. That would give him a max value $8.5 million. Following the restructure, he’s now due $3.5 million in guaranteed salary. He also has the opportunity to earn $250,000 in per-game bonuses and up to $2.25M in incentives. That gives him a max value of $6 million in 2023.

Linebacker

Christian Ellis has emerged early in Training Camp as a potential dark horse to start along side Nakobe Dean. Morrow has taken the majority of the first team reps early in camp however, Ellis started alongside Nakobe Day 4.

Cornerbacks

Zech McPhearson and Mario Goodrich are taking reps inside as slot corner with Avonte Maddox limited.

James Bradberry has had a good start to camp with a couple of PBUs and an interception off Marcus Mariota that would have went for a Pick-6. Bradberry was beat down the sideline by AJ Brown with Jalen Hurts dropping a dot.

UDFA CB Mekhi Garner lit up Charleston Rambo in 11v11 and sent the WR flying down the sideline. Garner has flashed in camp.

Safety

Reed Blankenship and Terrel Edmunds have emerged as the starting safety pairing with K’Von Wallace rotating in with the the first team. Justin Evans and Sydney Brown remain with the 2nd and 3rd teams.
